Sissinghurst III

As already announced with Sissinghurst I I now have completed my little series about Sissinghurst Garden.
If you love gardens Sissinghurst is one of the most incredible places you can find. May be it is the garden (gardens actually) which features the highest level of English garden culture. Unfortunately all other tourist in UK seem to think so too. In summer you can not just buy a ticket and step in. You'll get a time frame whithin you are allowed to enter. Mine started at 2:30pm. It was a hot and sunny day and we could not leave our dog in the car so we had to visit the gardens one after the other. In effect I had only about 30 minutes for my visit. Which is a shame, the gardens deserve a whole day of commitment.
Sitting on a lawn in the shade of a large tree together with our Border Lucky waiting on my partner to come back gave me the chance to watch the scene a little. With all the old ladies in their flowery summer skirts and large straw hats and their husbands in tow it seemed to me, as a continental European just stepping onto British soil, as being very English. I always expected Inspector Barnaby peeping around the corner, out on an inquiry about some bizarre murder.
