I was in the Smokies recently trying to take a similar photo but failed.I love the tones and placing of the rocks,it almost looks like you used a red filter,is this a result of the sulphur?Fine image.

Bert, I spent yesterday hiking in places like this and got a bit dehydrated (highs were close to 100F). As such I've been incredibly lazy today... your beautiful picture has inspired me to get my but in gear and develop some film. =) Thank you!
