Side Courtyard, Louvre

If you look carefully you can see the capital Ns running across the frieze over every window/door. This was from the Napoleonic era when the Emperor had the Louvre palace renovated and splashed his moniker all over it.

This is a highlight for me too - I love the space. I wish I could have gone out into that courtyard and photographed - I could easily have burned an entire roll or two there. Unfortunately it is a construction zone with tents, tarps and generators piled up, and the door out to the courtyard was closed. I have a feeling this was one of the spaces Atget photographed, but I could be wrong.

Stunning! I lost my mojo in Paris and was a little overwhelmed so I came away with nothing, I couldn't see anything. Your photos are wonderful and I really enjoy them. Thanks for sharing.
