Shawna C., Ft Pickens, Pensacola, Beach, Fl

I shot this portrait of Shawna, who is 100% Chickasaw and an absolutely gorgeous woman, at FT Pickens at Pensacola Beach.

I was shooting T-MAX 100 with the F2 and a 35mm f/2 Nikkor. I had a monopod but I still had to shoot at 1/8 sec, so I held my breath and hoped for the best. Two out of the three showed some camera movement, but this one came out sharp.

The lighting was tricky, with a wide range of EV's so I metered with a 1º Pentax Spotmeter. It still took some burning and dodging to get to this point, however.

What a great picture and beautiful model! My eyes play tricks on me with the white of her dress and the light area on the floor. Hard to explain, and probably just my monitor, but it's almost spooky.

JW, the light inside that gun turret is very strange. There are also some holes in the ceiling and the walls that cast weird little shafts of light as well. Also, I dodged her a little bit as well to make her stand out some more.

However, as you alluded to, there may be spooks in there as well. After all it is a 175 year old fort. There are bound to be some old dead soldier spooks hanging around that place somewhere!

Excellent all around. I really like this.
