Taken in the backyard on an extremely hot day, it was the subjects idea to try a shawl. The warm tone of the image doesn't show on the screen, which is a pity.
The others have said it better than I can, simply an excellent portrait. There are a few things that could be helped a bit, but all in all, this is a dandy!
Thank you for all of your nice comments. This was a deliberate attempt for a low key picture, which came off. Gustavo is correct stating that the print is rather flat. It is flat but not as flat as the computer version. This scanning a print is a bit difficult as my scanner is 8 years old and was really bought to scan line artwork for my business, halftones or continuous tones don't cut it to well. I intend to use this neg for the next postcard round, so some of you may see an original. Nicole, the paper is Ilford MGIV and the developer is Agfa, this combination gives the MGIV a warm tone which I find pleasing, saves one purchasing warm tone paper! Bill is correct in that the eyes are a bit dark, my wife was holding a reflector to give catchlights in the eyes, but in this frame, the best one of the series, there was no reflector, the shot worked better. McGrattan, there is a horizontal line running across, it annoys the ding out of me and stopped me from putting this up until I thought that the image was strong enough to allow for the line which came from the scanner. My scanner always does this on a dark print, I've only scanned about 20 prints and three have been dark and goten this line, I'll live with it. Mick.
