J, I really like this. First glance at the thumb made me wonder if it was shed antlers lying on the ground. There's a texture to the lighter parts of the tree that's nice - most noteable on the thicker of the 2 branches that goes off to the right. I don't see this kind of look w/ recent lenses.
It was my first, and so far only, roll of the Ilford SFX200 film. I need to get more as I love the near infra-red look. The lens on the camera has seen better days, but tends to render subjects in a special way. I'm not real sure how to describe it. It was $20.00 well spent! Makes me want a refurbished one with a nice lens and new bellows from Certo6.
Hmm. A bit more costly film, but the results speak volumes. Another one I'll need to try. Fertile ground for skies & gnarly trees are in the local 'pioneer' cemetaries.
This is definitely a cool shot, but you got sky that dark without filtration? A few years back I ran a roll of SFX200 with a series of different filters and seemed to need at least a red, if not IR filter to get results that dramatic. I should play with it some more, although it's a bit pricey. Anyway, fun, and another advocacy for those old folders (no, the cameras, not me! )
