SFX Birch

An experimental shot using a 16mm fisheye and a home made rear mounting SFX filter. Basically wanted to see if it was feasible. Apologies for the wonky horizon

Neat shot. So, just what is an "SFX" filter?
Ilford market a dedicated filter for their semi infra-red SFX film - hence SFX filter. It's visually opaque, only transmitting light above a certain wavelength (I'm not sure what it is). The problem with using a fisheye lens is that filters have to be mounted at the rear. The supplied filters with the fisheye don't include infra red, so I made one myself from a bit of old SFX filter stuck to one of the other filters.
