SF7 Test : Church Door

There is something about this photo that I find rather captivating. It looks ... old..., as if it is one of the first colour photographs taken. It isn't, of course, but it does have a rather intriguing "historical" look to it. I expect a 19th century vicar to walk through that door at any moment.

The colors (colours) are truly appropriately pastel: I think that that is what makes this image so soothing. You really want to immerse yourself into the scene and actually BE there. Composition-wise, it is exactly as I would have directed it to be. - David Lyga

I wish I had old churches like that where I am.

Thanks to all my 'Fans' -- I can WALK there -- thus doing the British Government out of some Petrol Duty and VAT tax ! It is a side door of our town Catholic Cathedral, never opened. It is a good 'Test Subject' I poked camera and lens through the railings this time but some years ago I was INSIDE the grounds photographing it with my Pentax 6x7 and a Church official came up to me and asked "What are you doing in the Church grounds Photographing?" -- so I replied " The old door is a good subject from a competition at Brentwood Photographic Club and anyway my Wife and Kids are keen Catholics and attend here regularly, but I am Church of England ( Lapsed)" --- " Allright, then, carry on " he said and went on his way -- and I won an award for that 6x7 transparency at Club !

Ah great story! Would like to see that to compare. But I really like the colors in this one.

I have searched for that Pentax 6x7 one but at the moment cannot find it in my files ---
