Seward Harbor

Named after William H. Seward, United States Secretary of State under Abraham Lincoln, who in 1867 fought for the U.S. purchase of Alaska which he finally negotiated to acquire from Russia for $7 million, Seward is one of the more lucrative commercial fisheries in the U.S. Located 126 miles south of Anchorage, it is also a favorite for sport fishermen and tourists.
