Nodda, This and your shot of the maple trees are so far beyond what I'm used to seeing for roll your own emulsion. Other than amazing handiwork, the composition is sweet. I'm on the other side of the country, but this shot could easily been taken about an hour south of me in Oregon. 'Very handsome & amazing work on the plate.
Thank you, HHS. I spent all last year really working on composition and I'm glad it shows.
I recently went on travel to Oregon (Portland) for work, and had the opportunity to explore the area. It's beautiful there. I just finished developing negatives from the Columbia River Gorge. I'll be there again next week.
If there are subjects, environments I can help point you to - pls. let me know. If an opportunity to meet happens, it would be a pleasure. The Gorge is wonderful, Mt. St. Helens & the back roads to get there are nice, lots of old wooden train tressels, coast is good. If I can help steer you to what you'd like to shoot I'll sure try.
On composition, its not at all natural for me - like trying to learn a foreign language. I've looked at/studied images on 1x, some on flickr for at least 10hrs/wk for the last 2 yrs, trying to get to the point I'm safe outside without my mother. 'Still seems very foreign to me.
