Self Portrait

Never have liked being on the front side of my photo's--thought maybe it was time to look into why. Thought I would try to get a shot that said 'here is a man that shoots 20 x 24 wet plate.

This one is a little more sane Full Plate Alumitype.

There is too much room above my head but hey I said it was A self portrait, not a good one.

Yup. Definitely 'here is a man who shoots 20x24 wet plate... at night, during a storm, in an ancient castle, high on a Transylvanian crag...'

Great photo!

Good to "see" you again, Monty! Funny, I didn't think you looked nearly that deranged in person . The cracked lens really makes it, nice work.

Did you make any photos you were happy with while we were in Mingo Junction? I've only got 1 printed so far, saving my low paper reserves.... All the best. Shawn

This kicks butt. Good to see the face of one that makes such excellent work.
Hey-if we were all models who'd make the glass for our plates?

You should see him when he's got his scary face on!!

Nice!!!!!

monty

it is great to put a face with the words and images
very cool portrait - intense look, broken lens and i LOVE
the wild stuff going on with the emulsion on the metal.

Ahh...wet plate collodium...when I saw this chemicals draining down on your picture it remained me about What Remains - Sally Mann's fantastic book. But I would gladly have seen your picture with even much more chemical mess on it
