This is a picture of me, I set up the shot and had my friend push the button. Shot on an old rail road bridge(circa 1894) behind my house in Idaho. Critiques please??
It's just me, but I would have altered the angle of the rails and bridge so that they would angle off from left to right a bit more. The eye wants to follow the rails, but they stop at the bridge caisson(?) with relatively little of visual interest in the back ground.
As a viewer I'm left wanting to see more of the bridge. But I like where I think you were going with this...The hills/mountains in your area must be terrific...
joeyk49 is right. Try this cropping: 1st vertical line (center-right in print) just slightly to the left of the power pole; 2nd verical line slightly to the right (center left of print) of the branches on the trestle, 1st horizontal line (center top) slightly above the top of the bridge.
What happens now is more isolation and increased air of mystery because all the distracting visual references are removed. Isolation gives the impression of loneliness, the bridge guards the loneliness and, of course, you make the loneliness complete. The image thus conveys a potentially greater emotional content.
