6x9 negative.
Thanks to the comments posted on my first try, I increased exposure significantly (20 minutes), and lengthened the wash time.
Still a way to go, but the journey has been fun.
(Please excuse the crookedness. Slightly askew on the paper, then further askew in the scanner.)
Better than my first attempt. Are you using the traditional formula? If so, once you have got the hang of the technique, I suggest you give the Mike Ware formula a try. Good luck Simon
Both of your images are great. You might try a couple of things to tease out a little more detail. Paper does make a difference. I've good results with Canson Edition which is pretty inexpensive. My first wash is a 10-12 part water to 1 part distilled white vinegar. Fresh water rinse second. A couple of minutes in a water bath with a little bit of hydrogen peroxide. I'm doing fairly large prints and use about 5 liters of water with 1 to 2 oz of peroxide. Final wash in fresh water. My exposures are about 2:30 to 3 minutes in a UV light box which I built for consistant exposures. I know that takes some of the fun out of it and I like semi-repeatable results. Bill Barber
I'm using the PF new cyanotype kit. The paper is cheap (but acid free) watercolor paper from Office Depot, but I will get better paper, once I have the technique down. I thought I had hydrogen peroxide in the house, but didn't. I plan on getting some, along with white vinegar, before my next attempts. I'm using the sun, now. If it's a technique which catches my fancy (I think it will), I will look into a UV source. I can't tell you how much I appreciate the guidance APUG members have given. The advice has substantially shortened my learning curve, and I look forward to sharing my future results.
