I like this very much, and I envy you for being able to get so close to such a young chick. I have a huge huge fondness for gulls. They are darn near impervious to everything, and very graceful with the way they own the air/wind. But unlike cockroaches they are also a beautiful creature (to me).

It's the girlfriend Mark ..... crazy about animals and it's rubbed off on me !
Actually most people have a keen dislike for gulls here in Cornwall .... attacking tourists, pinching pasties and trying to carry off young children etc

great portrait ... that water fowl doesn't look at all like he's intimidated by your lens ... oh,yes they learn "crapping" early on ... they learn how to aim it later ....

I like gulls for all the reasons most people don't. I like their spunk, their lust for life and french fries. I love to hear them screaming when I come home to my house in the city by the sea after a trip inland. It let's me know I'm home.

He certainly wasn't intimidated by the experience and was really easy to photograph, seemed to enjoy having his photo taken - these birds have a lot of front !
We kept him going on a constant supply of cat food which came out the other end as fast as it was going in.
