This was cropped before printed because there was a big chemical spot in the top corner. No idea what caused that.

The in-camera meter was obviously being led astray by the bright sky, leaving the face very dark. A hand held incident meter or a spot meter would have given a better reading. The composition is excellent.

Thnaks for the input Morry. VEry backlit and obviously fooled the meter (and me!). I have maintained detail in sky behind though and I sure a further print can lighten the fore. I should use my meter but it's one more thing to carry around and I'm trying to escape all the 'stuff'!
