Your photo is attention grabbing in the small format, but when opened up I feel it has several faults which migitigate against it being a winner. The most obivious fault is the horizon which is higher on the RHS. I also feel you should have retained more detail in the foreground and lastly your photo is very 50/50. I would suggest that you crop off the top portion of the sky as all the action and drama is taking place in the foreground. All these adjustments can take place in your darkroom and to my mind are well worth it as your picture has real potential. Of course this is just one persons opinion and you are entitled to accept or reject it.

Thanks Vincent, I really appreciate your comment.
The main exercise was testing a bunch of filter cards and a multi holder to see the effect I could get. Unfortunately I didnt know how much compensation to make and I since realize spotting through the filters isnt very accurate. This I used two graded filter or half coloured filters, hence the 50/50 also I was basing the composition on a pin hole in 35mm I did of the same subject, strong vignette, dark, and not much detail, which I kinda liked. I did a 2 stop graded burn of the sky using 00 filter as well as a 1 stop graded vignette of the cross.......but yes normally I would compose based on thirds although there wasnt much cloud on the horizon.....will try again and again.
@Andrew O'Neill Oh know I dont know now. The Mamiya is old and clapped out and often wont fire the lens, so I have to fire the lens seperate and listen for the click just to make sure. I remember at one point not hearing two clicks for a long exposure and refiring on the exposure, but I cant remember which frame that was......need to take notes. Good idea though, will try that any how.
I also used potassium ferricyanideon the foreground white water, after two failed attempts (less is more) to get a little more lift.
Thanks
