Santa Barbara courthouse, Artist and subject

I had seen this artist painting as we wandered through the courthouse. Eventually I walked past her and it hit me. the light was fantastic. In these 2 shots I tried, but failed miserably, to capture her, her work, and the subject. I should have had the temerity to get closer, but did not want to be a bother. Comments, especially on the composition, desired.

In this one I tried to take in as much of the scene as possible, with all in reasonable focus.
