The building in the foreground is Sand Aire House, designed in a classical style by Kendal architect George Webster in the 1840s. Built for the Provincial Insurance Company as their headquarters - the modern building behind is actually their later 1960s six storey office extension (yes, it is attached to the rear of this Grade II protected listed building).
I actually knocked at one the front door of one the offices across the street and asked if I could I come up and take a photograph from their second floor window. They happily obliged. Was it worth the effort? For those of you aware of the urban photographs of John Davies - this was taken with his work very much in mind.
