San Lorenzo Facade, Clouds, Florence

The facade of San Lorenzo, with clouds. The church was originally designed by Brunelleschi, but he died before its completion. Michelangelo was commissioned to design a facade for it, but it was never built, and the facade was left unfinished.

Bravo, tfc. 'Don't know what anyone else thinks, but I find it really satisfying. For me, its less the architecture than the basic form, detail & texture. The story of its building adds a bit. 'Hope you had fun getting this one.

I had a wonderful time on the trip, doing nothing but photographing and visiting art museums. On my busiest day I shot 17 rolls of 120. My goal with this shot was to contrast the rough yet rectilinear/geometric form of the basilica facade with the puffy white clouds. I think the two textures really set each other off.
