Without an interesting sky, making an interesting photograph away from the ocean in north east Florida is really tough. The clouds are never the same, and often quite spectacular. Sometimes, ya just have to make lemonade!
I agree having lived in Fort Myers for almost 30 years we have very little to offer but outstanding and dramatic skies. This is very nice and having that tree and creek makes it all come together.
This has me really torn. I love everything about it especially that tree bottom right. BUT I'd be sooooooo tempted to digitally take out that vertical strip of water that leads from the bottom to the main part of the slough. I find it annoying and very distracting and adding extreme tension where I don't want it. Which could be your wabi-sabi reason for shooting it like that. But damn, such a perfect picture without it.
Thank you both for commenting. Michael, I was very deliberate about placing the little strip of water in the frame. To me, it keeps the picture from 'banding'. What I will do, though, when I make a print is burn it down a bit so it's less prominent. And, as you know, some things are no nos on apug.
another fine one. this may just be me projecting how i would feel onto you and/or your images, but i get such a sense of calm and joy when i view your images. i imagine that you enjoy shooting and really appreciate the time you spend out in nature. bravo!
