TFC, I like this alot. Tones are up to your standards, but the composition just has alot in it that seems very much in place. The signage & bars, parking meter, tree branches giving some framing. 'Just a good street shot w/ your normal impeccable execution.

All these are very nice, the light and tones come out with special quality, creamy but sharp at the same time seems contradictory, but true here and in the others. HiHo, i rather think the composition is screamingly punctuated by being framed by the gentrified pedestrians strolling past the homeless dudes and barred front window... perfectly timed in a HCB sort of way. I am glad to see, and TFC's photography capturing, WDC NE being brought to life. Once, one of the most notorious 'hoods hanging in the late day shadow of the dome of the nation's obscenely moneyed and power-fueled capitol.

@michaelorr DC is a city that's a study in contrasts. It's surprising how deep the poverty and racial divisions run literally within eyesight of the capitol dome. And back in the day there was an adult entertainment district that had titty bars, gay discos, and even all-male nude dancing establishments (and drag shows) where today sits the new Nationals Park baseball stadium, within a 15 minute walk of the House and Senate office buildings.

Just where those places belonged (not the stadium) - close to the SOB.

I always felt the irony very deeply of the circumstances when going out to go dancing back in the day, driving down to Tracks (the biggest disco in the area with three dance floors, an outdoor volleyball court and a barbecue pit) and seeing the abysmal poverty of the neighborhood that the folks up on Capitol Hill were writing policy about and for and around without ever setting foot in it to see the impact their decisions (or lack thereof) were having. When you'd park the car, you'd have to bribe the homeless guy $5 (later $10) to "watch" it (in reality not break in). And you never left the club alone - you always walked to and from in a pack. Now the area has been gentrified beyond recognition.
