I shot this image while I was in high school during the summer holidays. My photography teacher (and huge inspiration to me) told me to shoot some portraits during the holidays and was going to teach me how to print on fiber when school resumed but we got a little distracted one afternoon and she showed me the quirks of hacking up neg masks. This is the result I got from the first neg carrier I butchered. It was so much fun.
I have also butchered neg carriers. It can be a great addition to the image I've posted a couple prints made with my favourite hacked neg carrier: http://www.apug.org/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=29972 and http://www.apug.org/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=29973 Once again great work and please keep posting.
Lovely portrait. The filed-out carrier works well here. sometimes it can be an "effect", and a bit much, but it works very well with the subject matter. It plays off his tousled hair and the ragged coastline, and contrasts nicely with the smooth skin tones.
