When performed at the moment of negative exposure, diffusion affects the highlights. But during enlarging it affects the shadows. This is one of the very few examples I've seen where the latter effect has been used with magnificent result. Most of the time it just looks bad. But here it's perfect!

This has a red filter look to the sky, not yellow...not criticizing but merely noting. It is certainly an image that stops you, quite beautiful.

Terrific shot and presentation, but I agree with Colin that the sky looks as if it was shot with red filter.

I hope you took notes when you were printing! It would take me a year to reverse engineer something like this. Really stunning work. Thanks for showing it.
