This is my second ever attempt at a cyanotype. The first was also today but I overexposed it so much it was all blue. I had made 2 pieces of paper so I tried again immediately using 1/4 the exposure (15 minutes in full sun). Even so, I think still overexposed. 12"x14" paper
Negative scanned and printed as 10"x8" on Laser OHP transparency. Then contact printed. I would have liked to have made the bigger negative on film but the cost of 10"x8" sheet film is astronomic just for some experiments making cyanotypes. Also I have no experience exposing or processing sheet film.
Edit: This picture seems to have been improved by a second longer wash. I won't really know until it is dry again. I'm still pleased with it though. The process appears almost miraculous. I am going to try bleaching the other print as it is so overexposed it is essentially useless. If the bleach of the other print is successful I may try to tone it.
San Francisco wasn't even founded when that house was built! It is early 18th Century. It's a beautiful house that is in need of a lot of money spent on it. It has had an interesting history and many occupiers. It was once the the meeting place of the local Temperance movement then the home of the Italian Vice-Consul, a private preparatory school and now the headquarters of the British Communist Party!! The don't look after it of course and I am in a state of constant war with them over one thing or another.....noise, failure to maintain the building properly, illegally displaying political signs outside election times etc etc etc.
