Round 5 - Lighthouse Stairs

I had to set the camera on the ground and eyeball the alignment of the center of the tower after metering off the upper stairs to get the light that I wanted. I tried to block some of the light entering from the open door to keep the range of light levels down a bit.

During printing, I used a 1.5" diameter disc to dodge the center of the image in expanding circles to lighten it up a bit. The work print is very dark in the upper parts of the tower. Dodging time was about %25 in the very center and less the further out you get.

This is the print I chose for the Round 5 postcard exchange so I moved it here so it is not duplicated. The actual postcard has a 1/4" white border but other than that, they look pretty much just like this.

I have a 4x5 (w/Ektar 207mm) right now. I just need to pick up a Combi Tank to develop in because I don't have enough room to do tray devlopment right now. The movements do look very appealing and 35mm is way to small. I usualy shoot medium format but even that could use some upsizing. Thanks for the comments!

Well seen and beautiful image! I was thrilled when it came. Of all the cards, this one was a little battered but that's part of the fun. Thanks!

Thanks to all for your comments! I knew my card would be a little worse for wear, being fiber, but I thought that it would make it in fair enough shape. If anyone gets a really tattered copy, just let me know and I will shoot you another in a cardboard sleeve.

I love this image and am glad to have one! My copy of this postcard was intact with no damage at all.
