Roswell Mill Raceway-First Light!
This is the first shot I took with my Korona this weekend. I finally rediscovered this location next to the ruins of the old Roswell Mill next to Vickery Creek as the evening light was fading. The negative was a bit thin looking for my taste but seems to have done alright, especially holding the highlights in the water.
This brings back memories of the 1970's, when we used to hike down to this "secret" party spot and drink beer, lay in the sun, and swim in the pool below the main falls, to the right of this shot.
Sadly, Vickery creek is too polluted from the city of Roswell to swim in any longer, and the textile mill up on the hill was turned into a big shopping complex, and developed jogging paths destroyed a lot of the privacy.
This area has a lot of history- When Sherman marched to Atlanta, the mills were destroyed ( I think they produced confederate flags and/or uniforms), and the workers were sent up North to be used as forced labor. Damn yankees...
