A Racine Native. I have met several people from around the globe that tell me they grew up here. It's pretty cool. I have been here about 11 years. NY before that, but grew up most of my life in Northern Illinois.
My wife gave me the ZeroImage 6x9 for Christmas a couple of years back. It was the best gift ever. that also does.. 6x4.5, 6x6, and 6x9. I love it. It gives the best images, probably because of the wooden design and the laser drilled pinhole. I too wanted to try 4x5 and instead built my own camera from a user over on 295.org
I built it out of that black foam/paper you can get in a craft store. Yes foam board. It works great. It cost me $25 to make, and I hand drilled the pinhole with a needle and fine sandpaper in some thin brass.
I would love the Zeroimage 4x5, but the sections are held together by rubber bands. It's a neat design to be able to change the camera in the field, but if you are out of rubber bands you are out of luck. I guess a guy with a foam camera shouldn't throw stones The 4x5 Zeroimage camera would be fun, and the 6x17 would be a blast.
If you do decide to get the zeroimage one and you don't have one yet, also buy the "Exposure Scale" on a Lanyard. I always wanted one separate from the camera. The one on the camera is tiny and it is usable, but on a lanyard around my neck and some cheater glasses would be ideal.. It is listed under accessories. $25.
I love the huge negatives, and my Rodinal (Agfa Adonal). 1:100 stand, 60 minute developer. Mix it, pour it, and walk away for 60 minutes. I can finally get my chores done while my film develops.
I can't wait for you to start posting some images.
