This is a wonderful portrait, normally with a portrait like this I prefer direct eye contact but the eyes looking away and this expression work well together. The DOF is well done also.

Cheers,
Bill

Thanks for stopping by Bill. Most of the other frames on this roll indeed have "direct eye contact". In fact that was what I was looking for in my "pure souls" series. However, as is often the case with portraits, sometimes you have to let go of what you think... and pick the one that "feels" best.

Yes, it's a gorgeous portrait. How about trying with a white background for a very high key effect? I think it would go well with her looks.

I don't want to be responsible for people getting snow-blind on APUG arigram ;-).
And thanks for your kind words Suzanne!

Yes, there was light, not a lot though (see shutterspeed/aperture values). For these portraits I always only use the light from the sun. The funny thing is that the portraits that look similar to this one in my gallery have all been made in different locations (by the way, the other one of Romy was made with flash... before I get complaints). One in a make-up artists' kitchen, the other one in my uncles atelier, and this one in her own livingroom.

The lack of eye contact works well with the ethereal quality of the photo. Whatever you had to do to accomplish this worked perfectly.

I also find this a very good image--- the DOF is perfect as well as the "lack of eye contact"---Lovely girl and an impressive image!!
