ROLLEI IR-400 - dr5-GALLARY

ROLLEI IR-400 dr5-processing / Developer-neutral.
..a new test shot of my wife's niece, Beverly. Unlike the name of this film, we have found it extremely difficult, IF AT ALL, to obtain the full infrared effect, neg or dr5. The good news about this film is it's a great film, especially if your looking for a film to replace scala. The dmax is much higher than that of scala. Increased contrast without loosing shadow detail and it seems to have the same spectral range as TP. It's dr5 range is 25-400 iso. NO FILTERS were used for this shot and the iso was 200. Scanned as the chrome, no manipulation.

**The dr5 process is a unique reversal B&W process unlike any published reversal B&W process. These are images posted to give examples of dr5 processing and it's use. www.dr5.com . If there are any questions regarding the images in this gallery give us an email, Thanks for looking!**

Great composition, gorgeous skin tones, wonderful DOF. I'd be curious what Beverly thinks....

Thanks! yes, this a great 'normal film', super sharp. From a personal perspective the IR capability of this film is at best 'near infrared', similar to SFX. All of our clients using this film have also come to these same conclusions. This shouldn't dissuade you from using this film, it is a very nice film and yes, very sharp! The EFKE /MACO branded IR 820c film was closer to a full IR film.

This would print very well as a cibachrome and as the scan to lightjet. You could also make a large neg from this original for a spectacular contact print!

Bev is only 16 and I dont think she liked any of the shots I took that day....
