One of the forgotten and largely abandoned Civil War defenses of Washington DC, Fort Foote was built on a high bluff overlooking the confluence of the Potomac and Anacostia rivers. This is one of two remaining Rodman naval guns that were placed at Fort Foote to defend the capital city.
