This must be the most frequently renamed landform on Earth... Wasn't it Barringer Crater a while ago? Named for whoever owns the land at present, I guess...
 
Not sure about the naming history but I’ve owned property out there for twenty five years and it’s always been Roden Crater. I’ll have to talk to my two neighbors who been out there much longer and probably know more about the history than I do.
 
@warden Wow, okay. I've been hearing and reading about Meteor Crater or Barringer Crater or Coon Mountain or Canyon Diablo for fifty years or more and never heard of Roden Crater. Guess I've got some Googling to do...
 
@Donald Qualls Enjoy the googling! Roden crater is now a massive site specific art installation, the brainchild of one artist that has been working on it since the 1970s. It has been "nearly complete" since 2001 or so.
