Rocks And Shadows #2

4x5 silver contact print

This is one of my personal "break through" photographs... I had become a bit overwhelmed with my surroundings and decided to just do what I normally do. I climbed up on a nearby rock and started to pan around under my dark cloth. I had Canyon De Chelly photographs made by my friend Scott Killian and others on my mind and ended up with this composition.

I've tried printing it several times and finally came up with this version over the weekend. While there is plenty of detail in the negative I decided to go with my original vision which is basically a sweeping bridge of land stretching through a sea of blackness.

very strong interpretation of this scene. I like it because it is as I think it should be .... a depiction of what you saw and felt. You share well with the viewer visually and emotionally with this one.
