This is a really nice landscape. I think it would be much more successful if you had less sky and more land in it, the way i see it is if you cut the sky off just above the top of the tallest branch that's sticking out, and moved back to fit more snowy land in there, it would be an even nicer image.
 
Thanks for the comments and suggestions. I stand by my composition here though; shooting the snowy ground is better done in brighter sunnier weather, and you have to keep an eye to the sky in the winter or you'll go stir crazy; gotta take all the light you can get.
 
Nice tonality. And I like the composition as it is. I favour large skies as long as they are not completely dull. In fact I have done a shot very reminiscent of this one not long ago, myself. Where the sky is more featureless than yours, and yet I still mean it works. I, like you, know there are certain rules to composition, but sometimes you need to do what feels right, rather than follow the book.
