View from the top of The Rock 1,398 feet (a strenuous climb) across the straight to the Atlas Mountains of Morocco (14 miles away). Lord Airey's Battery 9.2 inch BL installed 1901 (was one of 14). Range 29,000 yards (16.5 miles). This film was X-rayed in checked baggage (by accident)
I've decided to crop this. I'm finding the red at the bottom distracting. Cropping the bottom so that there is no red makes the photo just a study of blue and it looks better to my mind.
@keithostertag Thank you. No I don't think it affected it at all or any of the other shots on the roll. I had always understood that the carry on (hand luggage) X-ray machines do not affect film (unless it is very high speed e.g. Delta 3200) but that the scanners for checked-in (aircraft hold) baggage use much higher doses. I accidentally packed the exposed film in my checked bag and was expecting it to be damaged but I can see no sign of damage. I did some research which suggests that the modern X-ray scanners use much lower doses than they did in the past.
