Rock Falls

Hauled my heavy camera into the dark canyon to photograph the falls. The Gr. 3 azo is a bit too contrasty, but is the only paper I've tried so far that shows good tone separation in the wet rock.

Beautiful image! Like you said, abit too much contrast for G-3, but you might be able to fit that negative on that paper using a waterbath to hold the shadows and slowly bring in the water. I would try it on G-2 if you have any. How are you planning to print this? Alt Process, silver, AZO?

You might try grade 2 azo with less exposure and more development, just to see if you can't "push" the image a bit more for grade 2. Still has that slight greenish cast (or it could be my monitor, who knows?) from a raw azo print, so 1:20 selenium will knock that back just a bit. Very nice image and the wet does look wet. Do like the darks in this one, makes it look cool and inviting (still in the 90's here). tim

thanks for the comments. I only have gr. 3 azo, and heard that in recent years grade 2 batches were not consistant. I would like to enlarge it, but just framed the 8x10 and it looks pretty nice under gallery lighting. It is slightly green as it is untoned.
