If the subject is the generator I’d suggest a much tighter crop onto it. I don’t personally feel the left and right of the doorway adds much.
 
yes -- you could have made a good 'Record Photograph' of this subject by getting in closer and showing all the details.

Unfortunately, the negatives have some scratches. Loaded from a bulk roll, I'm pretty sure this is the roll I forgot to open the gate on. I thought I had separated it for test use, I guess not.
 
I don't feel like the subject is the generator but the place where the generator is. The strong vertical and horizontal lines framing the generator gives the sense of order and stability lost
 
I shot the old engine house on 4x5 as well. Negatives look good. Hope to print Sunday.
 
Nice. But with that strong vertical in the middle, I thought I was looking at another of Pentax Pete's half frame images ....
