Roads and Rocks, Alabama Hills

4x5 silver gelatin contact print

I realized that I do not have any prints left of several of my favorite images so I'm printing some. It's kinda fun going backwards in time and reinterpreting things a bit.

I was surprised by what a decent negative I made back then, shadow detail anywhere I wanted it and the same with the highlights. I tried printing this on several different grades but still like it kinda hard.

Thank you. Me too! =) For my eye, there is an arching line of black rock shadows that flows from the upper left to the bottom right and almost divides the image in half.

Beautiful print, Shawn! Did you meet up with Laura Campbell while you were out there?

Thanks, T! Unfortunately not. This neg was made in 2006. Realized I didn't have a print of this to show so I'm going through and making some of my favorite images.

This is cool Shawn,as a young'un I just loved westerns and can imagine John Wayne coming down this road at full gallop!

wonderful ...., great print , light and place .....thank you for bringing it home ...

Thank you, fellows! jerrybro, it is the Alabama Hills but they're not in that state. =) They are located in eastern California, one valley over from Death Valley.

There is a certain rhythm in the road and the staggered rocks which I like very much.
