Clouds are easily seen in the sky's reflection in the water - but not so obvious in the area above the trees. Burning in the clouds would help to complete the image. Southern Ontario's "fish belly white" skies are boring. I know, I was born there.
Not what I intended but seeing the clouds in the reflection but not in the sky made me think the reflection was different from reality.
You're right, I need to learn to burn the skies in. I've been trying to adjust the contrast and just expose overall properly so I can get my skies and foregrounds right but I will need to try to burn them. Just hard with the tree branches but I will give it a shot, perhaps burn through some RC paper... thanks.
Did you use a yellow filter on the Canon when you took this shot? That would have cut down the UV light and allowed you to capture the clouds. Other than that this is a good composition using the rule of thirds.
No, unfortunately I don't have any color filters yet. I was going to get some but they are still quite expensive new for 77mm filters or for a Cokin system but I suppose I will have to do it.
