Rickety Old Farm House

Another shot from the abandoned Traver Ranch on the Carrizo Plain right before dusk. There were harsh shadows running near horizontal since the sun was very low on horizon. This is the back side of an old farm house on the property. This isn't the main farm house, it appears to be low quality and maybe was used for the hired help. All the flooring is pretty much gone inside thus eliminating a decent opportunity to shoot most interior shots as there are boards all over with rusty old nails and shards of glass abound.

Bear in mind that every last one of my scans were done on a total piece of #$%# scanner. This image is particularly awful from the scanner which are the lines running horizontal in the middle.

Assuming that it was the interior detail of the house that attracted you, I feel that you should have moved in much closer to the back of it. You would then have eliminated the uninteresting sky and that portion of the tree. This would leave the viewer to study the detail of the house falling apart. Of course I hasten to add this is but my opinion and you may have approached your shot from a totally different point of view.

Good idea Tex. I'm going back out there. When I got there the day I shot these photos it was like do or die, shoot what I could within 5 minutes and then the sun was gone over the crest of a mountain 20 miles away. I want to get back out there and shoot this mid-day because there are sections of the roof gone on some of the buildings and it would make a great way to light up the inside plus perhaps the interesting shadows that might create. There are a bunch of great opportunities on this property.
