Looks good Dan. I was windering how you were going to treat this scene. I like how you used the reflections... but I'm a sucker for good reflections anyway.
Next time we go to the southern end of the Quabbin.
An interesting picture. Takes awhile to figure it out. The out of focus reflections at the top bothers me. I wonder if it wouldn't be better to crop them out. Right down to the edge of the retaining wall.
I think you could do more here, the photograph is fine but lacks "tension".......I cant help but get the feeling that there is a great photograph hiding some where in this one...
OK. I think the photograph is great! Really! But like Jorge said there is more. I am sure we will all differ on this but my feeling is that cutting the top to get rid of the detail on the land will leave you with only water with form and texture. Something more self contained. What do you think?
It is an interesting one. If I lived close by I would go there at different times of the day to see what it looks like. I wonder what it would look like with a clear sky and no tree reflections...
Agreee with colivet... I'd just crop the bit off the top where you see the detail in the land. Might even work upside down?? At any rate, I love the different textures in the water, and the reflections. Nicely seen.
The shot is a good starting point as Jorge suggests and believe that there is a winner in there somewhere. Maybe worth a revisit if necassary. The subject matter is quite similar to a shot I took a while ago which might expand horizons if you do go back - Phill

Thank you all for taking the time to look and comment. The fortunate folks who live around central Mass, or can visit regularly, have a wonderfully rich environment to explore, both photographically and for personal enjoyment. This photograph and the previous post were taken on an all-to-brief visit- i.e. in the tourist mode. I'd love to return again to discover more possibilities (Gene, I'll definitely take you up on your offer the next time I'm out that way).
What caught my attention in this scene was the nicely graphic discontinuity in the water surface created by the retaining wall and its effect on the reflections. The tree reflections appear to dance on the far shore, and again on the foreground lip of the wall- a peaceful ballet.
