These 'Volkswagens' were never very popular in the USA, perhaps because the Chevrolet CORVETTE and the Ford THUNDERBIRD took all the limelight. I would imagine that your German car is from about 1960, Macfred? Please tell me the date. - David
Beautiful!
I got my first drivers license in 1969. The Karmann Ghia was to me what the Red Ryder air rifle (bb gun) was to Ralphie Parker of A Christmas Story fame. Ralphie fared better than I did as I never got one; they still have the wow factor with me though.
@Born2Late Thank you for your nice comment - saw A Christmas Story (Fröhliche Weihnachten) in German - I can still remember ... "You'll shoot your eye out."
My first ever car ! When towing it from the previous owners back lot it became obvious to me that I had my work
cut out for me , as much of the car remained in the backyard in various states of decomposition . Was lots of fun
and never got stuck in Ottawa winters . Peter
