From my first outing of 2010, on New Year's Day. 6" of fresh snow overnight drew me to the nearby county park like a bee to honey. The wind convinced me to take the 35mm instead of the 4x5 or 8x10 and the subtle browns and dark green evergreens seen though heavy falling snow made me reach for the Portra 160 NC film. Unfortunately, my durg store let me down: excellent work in the past with consumer Kodak film did not lead to similar results with the Portra. I should have waited and taken it to the camera store, who know how to process and print it's subtle magic. *Sigh* A new year, a new lesson learned. These brilliant red berries were the best of the lot and, I hope, a suitable debut for the new year! This is a slightly wider treatment from the first photo.
