I was there in June and July of 1981 with Dr. Georgia Lee (UREP).

A Rapanui chicken baked in clay the traditional way (umu tahu) along with the proper rituals might be sufficient to appease the spirits.

Excellent image, and if a stone head can be said to be brooding, this one appears to be doing so. And, as for the 'running back to my car as possible' comment, that's a loaded comment to just leave dangling.

Rapa Nui! wow you have been to the most remote place on earth! This is a very powerful shot! the upward gaze of the figure in the background really makes this picture. Have you seen Michael Kenna's Easter island photographs? He published a book just called Easter Island. I think you will appreciate it.
