This is a terrific photo both aesthetically and technically. I love this kind of photography - i.e., exploring everyday objects and drawing out meaning via the photographic process. Good work.
 
I agree with Doc W, detailed shadows contrasting with the higher chalk stuff.
 
Thanks. This caught my eye walking home one evening I thought it resembled a flower. The thumbnail better represents the image I think. A good candidate for a small print perhaps.
 
So many comments! Why? Because the stark contrast makes this image more than real, but not nakedly surreal. This is truly where B&W shines over color. This is a pure example of a counter towards people who complain that there is nothing to photograph in their respective neck of woods and, in sum, 'need to travel to see more aesthetic possibilities'. You squash that faulty reasoning. - David Lyga
