Ranchos de Taos NM 1997

Ranchos de Taos NM 1997

Since this is my first post I thought I'd start with one of my earliest 4X5s. This church is somewhat of a mecca for famous photographers. I thought I should "pay my dues" and give it a try. Finding an orginal composition was the challenge; most views of the entire structure have been done many times over.

WOW ! Great picture. This church is organic, it is always changing shape as the adobe is piled on every year, then in time stripped away. And you can still commune with Strand and Adams... just watch out for the tour busses !

Wonderful, beautiful picture. Thanks.

I like it too. Great to see a different view of this location.

Wha a great image; beautiful lines and a great tonal range.

I miss MCC already and I still have 5 boxes. Can someone tell me this tone is possible with another paper? PLEASE?l

Almost a melding of genres: you can say its landscape, you can say its architecture, you can say its abstract... One gets lost in this picture, and can't make out where the magic of the subject ends, and that of the photographer begins. A seamless mystical experience! Wonderful!

Thanks for looking and your kind words. I think this forum is great. The interaction between the prints/photographers is something I really appreciate seeing and reading. bob
