I'm glad he's still active making photographs. Doesn't matter what he uses to make them. He's still the same brilliant photographer. If you listen to him speak you will notice that he is more than a little bit disappointed with the paper selection today. He said in one interview: "If you don't like printing on Ilford, you could always print on Ilford"... He has a very specific way of working and it's different from what most other people do, requiring very hard grade papers, which are not available anymore.

Tony, very nice portrait! It's amazing how many gifted photographers I know are also musicians. I don't know Ralph Gibson, but it's probably not a coincidence that he's also a good guitarist. Envious you were able to take a workshop from him. He's one of my favorite photographers.

I have to agree with Thomas... I got a chance to hear him talk and show his work at a local college and I was totally inspired, he is a pretty funny guy also.If Leica gave you a Leica Mono with your signature engraved on it and asked you to shoot a portfolio, then produce a book and a show AND pay you for doing it... How could anyone pass that up? I would have no problem with that at all. I would be very surprised if his film days are over yet.Tony, nice portrait of a great photographer... Great shot, and I too love his work, and didn't realize that he was also a guitarist...makes sense though.
