beautifully composed and executed. I might have thought about taking the phonebooks out of the picture to make the interior even sparser, but maybe that's just me.
Others have said that the phone books are what make the picture. In any event, the primary rule I set for myself when I began this project was that I would move nothing in the house except myself and my tripod. Everything is exactly as I found it.
Yes, I like the phonebooks. It adds a "used to be someone living here" quality to it. The framing is excellent for such a wide angle lens. No bending on the corners.
This is really nice! And there are a lot more pictures contained within this larger image.
Wallace's theory of "move nothing" is fine as a starting point. Having made that image, however, I would experiment with other locations for the phone books. I would like to see what this would look like with the phone books on the floor between the readiator and the door.
Among the things that make this image for me are the cracks in the plaster, and that curious rectangular thingie on the door frame.
Wonderful! Brings back memories. We had "steam" radiators on our Annapolis house. The mate wanted a cover for the one in the entrance so I made one. "Too plain and uninteresting. Maybe you could come up with a picture to add interest?" So I made an enlarged picture of the radiator and applied it. She never ask again!
