My guess would be a 1951 Ambassador or Statesman. I owned a '46, '47, 48, 49, and '56, but that was so long ago that details are lost in the haze of too many years.
. . Thanks Jim, I Googled around and found a pristine '51 Statesman Super for sale on a showroom floor. Looks like a perfect match, so I've upgraded my files accordingly.
Great image of a great old marque. A family friend collected these and I was always amazed at the virtual silence of the motors. It felt like mechanical perfection and it was an affordable vehicle.
