I think that your series is doing a good job of debunking the idea that there is anything glamorous about working in the sex industry. These are of course human beings with feelings and deserving of at least neutrality, if not empathy, living a very difficult life...at least that is what comes thru to me from your photos.
Yes that is part of the message. When you go up some dirty back stairs, then into a room that has cockroaches in the corner and used condoms in the garbage. When the worker is tired, worn out and possibly HIV positive as a result of their job. The last thing I want to do is glamorize things.
the little stuff (cockroaches, condoms) sort of hard to get, I do have some images that include as much of the room as I could get in with the lens I was using. I need to do more photographs outside the room thou, in the streets, on the stairs etc.
Using wider angle lens with 35mm worked better in images like this shot in Cambodia. The rooms are often rather small so you sort of have to go wide to get more info in them(this image was made with a 28mm I think, I also shot with a 20mm).
