Photo taken approximately 5 minutes before the sun cleared mountains behind me. Wind blowing across lake in 10 second exposure. Image used by Bill Nordstrom/Laser Light Photographics and Bogen Photo/Gitzo, Ramsey, NJ.
Sweet, indeed. Brings back a lot of memories, reminds me how much I sometimes miss the mountains. I once hiked up to this lake, late one afternoon, with an Omega 45D on tripod over my shoulder. Thanks for sharing, it is appreciated.
Thanks very much for the very kind words. The reason that I called it Predawn is because it was taken from the lighting prior to the sun coming across the horizon. This was a very beautiful morning and the lighting looked really promising as the sunlight was coming from below the horizon from the mountains behind me. Wind was blowing across the lake and I expected ripples to be visible in the final image and its mate. But, it appears that the amplitude and the time smoothed out the ripples and resulted in perhaps a slightly softer reflection.
This image was about a 10 second exposure which was taken about 10 minutes earlier than its more contrasty and more popular mate in "Golden Light" which was a 4 second exposure. This is the link to the other image:
Rich I think you have a really nice balance of warm and cool colors in this one. This is much better than the typical sunrise image over water, this is balanced and well composed with great details. The upper left really balances the lower right perfectly. The branches also contribute to a nice flow to the tree line and back around into the sky. I also like how the lilly pads break up the perfect reflecion and bit and give it something else. I am also drawn to the vertical lines of the trees, how they are lit up just perfectly. nice image.
Thank you very much for the very kind words. I know that my printer Bill Nordstrom is very partial to this image and its mate mentioned above. These are some of his favorites of my images. Rich
It is interesting how much difference a monitor makes. I looked at this image earlier at work, but now that I am at home, I'm blown away by the colors; I wasn't truly seeing them on my monitor at work.
